Wedding Weekend

Wedding Weekend! Whew, what a whirlwind…and I’m pooped! While I collect myself please enjoy a few snapshots from this weekends festivities – photos courtesy of various family & friends…and Mojo Photobooth.

Ashley Goodwin - Im pooped, too! Im still trying to sleep it off! You looked gorgeous, thanks for being my maid of honor and for that speech!

xo

Ashley Goodwin - These are so fun! Impressed everyone wasnt camera crazy….wish I had of gotten in the photobooth with dad!

Happy Friday!

I’m in Charlotte for my sister Ashley’s wedding – sans camera, can you believe it?! These were photos from one of her many imaginary weddings…circa 1991. I love how her veil looks like it took wings and is going to take off and fly away any minute…hehehe. Definitely not this weekend’s style…

Lila Purdy - So happy for Ashley. Enjoy your stay.

mom - I thought she made a beautiful bride at age 6…..although nothing beats the glow in her eyes and on her face 20 years later. At one point, Adrienne told me to stop staring at her….but it was hard not to stare because I truly thought she was the most beautiful, radiant, chuckling bride this earth had ever graced. So proud to say she is my daughter and her husband my new son.

Ashley Goodwin - I’m STILL pooped! Thanks for the love and all of the hardwork, it was a great time! xoxo

Ashley Goodwin - ps: the veil may not have been this weekend’s style, but the giant earrings and pink lips were!

Just another Frantic Friday

So I’ve been really bad a blogging lately…really bad…i know i know… This is exactly the reason I don’t have pets that can’t take care of themself for at least a day. Goldfish work well here. My life has always been a hectic rolling ball of “be here, be there, do this, can you make that?” all at the same time. I should teach classes on multi-tasking. Oh wait, then that means I would have another job to multi-task! Call in the Life Coach! The last few weeks, in addition to my awesome photography clients, I have been frantically working on a styled session with some great local vendors that I am super excited about. At the same time I’ve been busting hump with my Mom working on my sisters fabulous bridal brunch that has taken on a life of it’s own. All to occur this weekend. Oh yeah, and there’s a full time job in there too. Sleep is over-rated and cleaning & errands are just…not gonna happen. So while it seems all the blogs in my RSS feed are popping out 3 & 4 awesome posts a week (keep it up! I love reading them!) I start to feel inferior & like I will never have time to keep up a good blog…then I remember that’s their full-time job and I’m trying my absolute best to fit blogging & business into my life-and it makes me feel a little less inferior for awhile…until the next post…:) So with my excuses in tow I head into a busy but blessed weekend and promise, PROMISE that I have great posts for you a.s.a.p! The styled session, a few snapshots from the brunch, my attempt to teach you a lil’ about camera basics & a few other tricks up my sleeve. And cupcakes. There are going to be soooo many cupcakes.

Ashley Goodwin - I can’t waiiiittttttttttttttttt!

[Married]: Jessica & Toby | Farmville Virginia Wedding Photographer

It’s always a pleasure to photograph a couple that you know and to be surrounded by familiar faces all day long. Especially when you have known them since you were knee high to a grasshopper (that’s southern for “forever ya’ll” ). I shot Jessica & Toby’s super fun engagement session along the backdrop of where they met and fell in love. I enjoy engagement shoots because not only are they relaxed and not on a strict time schedule, enabling us to hop around from location to location – but it gives the couple a chance to get accustomed to me and to the camera. It can be somewhat overwhelming and foreign for a camera to be everywhere you turn, documenting every single moment of your wedding day, (although Ashley & myself are super stealth and blend in with the background, it’s still unavoidable for couples to be conscious of the camera every now and then) so I prefer to get them comfortable and relaxed with me and in front of the camera prior to the day. It worked like a charm with these two, because Jessica & Toby opted for a first look (excellent choice!) and we photographers seemed to vanish in the emotion of the moment. During their portraits it was as if they were the only two in the entire world. Jessica & Toby were able to relax and enjoy each other, which produces real, natural, authentic moments. Meeting the wedding party is always a fantastic experience and after spending hours with them I feel like one of the team. The ladies were super cute, stylish (their accessories…swoon), photogenic & such an energetic bunch. I absorbed their energy, giving me a lil’ extra pep in my step! Given that I already knew the guys-a trio of brothers-I knew I was in for bouts of laughter and friendly picking amongst themselves and us, all in good fun.

Jessica & Toby’s story is a fave. Growing up in adjacent small towns and with mutual acquaintances, life moves them both to the City. Girl recognizes boy on a busy sidewalk during girls night out, invites him to tag along and they’ve been inseparable ever since. A blissful whirlwind less than 2 years later and they stand before friends & family as husband & wife. She moved all the way to the City and still ended up with a local boy-and vice versa. Life seems to bring us back together like that:) Enjoy your Eastern Caribbean Cruise! (I am totally jealous btw)

[First Look]: Jessica & Toby | Farmville Virginia Wedding Photographer

Just a sneak peek of this past weekends nuptials of Jessica & Toby! I can’t say enough wonderful things about “first look” and the intimate moment it creates – and I think this lovely couple can testify to it’s magic. Jessica opted for the sneak attack when he was least expecting it…who doesn’t love a surprise? Full post on the awesomeness of this wedding coming later this week…
