It’s 1 week into the wedding planning for Amanda, which means we are 3 weeks away from the big day. Whew! Planning a wedding can be quite overwhelming to say the least but we are plowing thru it. For every challenge we have a victory & by having such great family and friends to pitch in, it’s all coming together. Here is a summary of the plan:
-30 days to the altar: 2/11/2012
-Small intimate wedding with immediate family and friends.
-Ceremony at Cabin or Lodge.
-Reception open to extended family & friends at a larger venue, preferraly a lodge style building.
-Rustic chic DIY details including invites, tablescapes, centerpieces, décor. Use as many materials as we already have or can borrow.
-Budget: not sure at this point, but very small.
Challenges:
-30 days!
-Location – it took hours of research, tons of phone calls & 7 days to find the right venue for ceremony & reception that was available, meeting capacity and budget.
-Invitations need to go out ASAP – invitees to both ceremony & reception need to receive notification by at least 2 weeks in advance (normally sent 4-6 weeks in advance). Locations & time needed to finalize. I’m also not the best at Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop so I feel it too twice as long to make the invites…but still just a few hours.
Victories:
-Location for ceremony & reception finalized on day 7.
-Invitations finalized & sent to the printers on day 7 which means they should be done in 2 days and mailed out by Friday. This will give ceremony & reception guests 2 weeks notice, but most of them have been notified of the date so the invite is a formality with the time & location details.
-Dress purchased. The first one ordered online didn’t quite work out so after a long frustrating day at a large bridal retailer, Macy’s had the perfect dress.
Stay tuned…we have 3 weeks to go!
