As I arrived home from yet another long day-weary & exhausted-but still having more to do…the words of a wise soul reminded me…”You aren’t superwoman -you need to accept that and others do too. You are only one person & can only do so much. There IS a life to live, people to spend time with & goals to pursue. You have such drive & good intentions but you say yes far too much. True, people don’t like No’s but you have to say them or else you will spend all your time away from those you love and what you love, making other peoples dreams happen, making them happy but not you. People will continue to take advantage of you if you keep it up. And you will be exhausted of not just energy, but of passion, drive, creativity, friends, health…life. I know, I’ve been there. I’m still working on getting out of there.”
It seems like everyone has been there, is there or is headed there. Why do we do this to ourselves & how to we gently and effectively kill the monster we have created? Why is great advice so hard to implement? 😉 Maybe a fresh year holds the key…
(Photo of the harbor @ Salem, Mass. I had such a wonderful time checking out Boston & Salem while in town for the Justin & Mary Boston Walk-Thru a Wedding Workshop. Stay tuned to the blog this winter for more pics of my 2011 adventures.)
