I’ve been wanting to share my knowledge, curiosity, and guinea pig skills on all things health, nutrition and beauty for quite some time but wasn’t sure what platform I wanted to use. I feel like I have given my friends their fare share of my mumbo jumbo, both solicited and unsolicited. So now I’ve decided to take it to the world wide web with hopes that someone will find it helpful and informative. Available to read at their convenience – instead of riding in a car with me for an hour of non-stop talk of  the 1001 uses of coconut oil and apple cider vinegar, wishing you could stuff a sock in my mouth.

I feel very passionately about healthy living and healthy body image. Mainly because I’ve been the exact opposite of health – overweight, preventable health problems, lack of body love, surrounded by women with unhealthy body images and flooded with unrealistic ideals on tv, magazines and culture. I know the havoc it can cause – the insecurity, the shame, the ick feeling, the strange ailments, the sickness, the depression, the shortened lifespan.  I want to promote, encourage and shift the focus to overall health: curing ailments, preventing disease and feeling better the natural healthy way, rather than fitting into a pair of skinny jeans and looking like your favorite top model.

I’m quite the adventurer when it comes to products, but I’m not going to do anything that I believe will cause more harm than good to my body. I believe that prescription meds are wonderful and may end up being the only solution for some people. But I also believe it’s worth a try to first fix it naturally and with “ancient, home remedies”. It may sound like mumbo jumbo to some but it’s worth a try first in my opinion.

I know it’s totally unrelated to photography which is the focus of the blog-but HEY! this is who I am, it’s what inspires me, what interests me. Plus, I don’t want girls to feel like they have to be stick thin to get in front of my camera or to be a supermodel to be beautiful. I’m a photographer because I see beauty everywhere, in everyone. I want to bring that inner beauty out to make them feel gorgeous, to see themselves for the beauties they are, to display and embrace their individuality, to fill the world with true beauty. So really, even though it’s not photography related topics, there’s a connection there to my inspiration and the imprint that I want to leave on the world thru my photography.

I’m excited to share acquired information to those that are interested; to hear feedback, resources with great tips from others; to learn more myself; to keep me inspired, motivated and push me to new limits. Most importantly I hope to inspire you to take control of your health, love yourself more while spreading it to the other ladies & gents in your life, and just maybe share a natural remedy of that will change your life for the better – or at least clear up that psoriasis on your skin when nothing else could (true story). What can you look forward to? Juicing, smoothies, detoxing, alkalinity, massage, yoga, rebounding, cardio workouts, uses for coconut oil, gluten free recipes….

I do have a master’s degree in Public Health/Epidemiology which I feel that gives me a better understanding of the why and how, but I am not an expert on any health care practices. I do not have any affiliation with any of the products or services discussed; I am not paid for endorsement of any products or services; I do not guarantee they will work for you or that they will not work for you; I will tell you the good, the bad, the ugly from my personal experiences and preferences; I do research each product and service for my own benefit before using them so you should too; check with your health care professional before beginning any type of health/exercise/nutrition program.*

Yay! I’m really looking forward to these posts & your insight….it almost feels like I could have written that myself. Xo

  2. Mom says:

This was one of the most interesting, “realistic’ blogs I have read in some time. I especially appreciate the fact that you encourage ladies to focus more on a healthy body and to love themselves for who they are and not what they should look like based on someone else’s unrealistic and unhealthy standard. What is any more beautiful than a confident stance, energy, bright smile, radiant skin, glistening eyes and shiny hair…signs of health? Keep those blogs coming…..
