Anna & Nick shared an apartment building, in fact they were next door neighbors. As the story goes (via MOH Kim’s toast which turns out was just for fun) Anna may have strategically locked herself out in order to have Nick come to the rescue-either by helping her break into her own apartment or to just hang out at his place. It sounds like a likely story, and could be the plot of a romantic comedy blockbuster. However, truth be told, it could have been Nick with the strategies since they did actually meet when he locked himself out…No matter the details, it worked like a charm. Together with my friend and fellow photographer Rebecca Armstrong, we traveled to Winchester, VA for the nuptials followed by a reception celebration at The George Washington Hotel. Rebecca spent the afternoon with the lovely ladies getting ready while I hung out with the gentleman (hence all the guy photos!) Anna enlisted some of her closest friends, utilizing their incredible talents of floral arrangements, bouquets, styling & hair. All working together to bring Anna’s style and vision for the day from inspiration to reality. She even had a friend bring her the veil left behind…in her current home of Pittsburgh, PA. That’s a friend ladies. Anna brought along her mother’s wedding gown & although she didn’t end up changing into it, it’s presence represented the bond between mother & daughter and tradition passed down through generations.
After a stunning ceremony where their hands were bound to “tie the knot” and their first communion as husband & wife, Rebecca & I were able to take the newlyweds onto the historic walking mall in Old Town Winchester where they were serenaded by a street performer strumming his guitar, crooning a Counting Crows hit. Gently swaying to the music and whispering lyrics in each others ear, Anna & Nick got lost in the moment. Everyone else disappeared until it was just Mr. & Mrs. Schey. Definitely one of my favorite moments to witness.
