Leo, Leonardo Raphael, Ralphie or Weeeeoooo as I like to refer to him, has adapted very well into this little family. We’ve fostered him the last few months since my sister & brother in law couldn’t quite move their pack maltese fuzzies with them just yet. I wasn’t quite how Samson was going to react though- he’s a very lovable and playful kitty, even with dogs. But I didn’t know how he was going to handle another small animal in the house that requires lots of attention. His attention. The first few weeks they stayed clear of each other, in fact they ran from each other & spied from afar like private investigators. Somewhere in there Samson decided to be adventurous and try to play with him, rubbing alongside him, tapping him with his paws, running full speed ahead & jumping over him – all while Leo stood frozen with terror. The one day a few weeks into it, I came home & they were snuggled together on the sofa. Like touching. “So this is what happens all day” I realized. It was pretty much like one of my favorite movies “Stepbrothers” with Sammy as Dale & Leo as Brennan. Stewie & Brian. Pinky & The Brain.
They’ve been besties ever since. Although I think Samson is more serious about his newfound BFF. Leo licks Sammy’s head, chases him down the hall and lets him paw him and practically lounge on top of him. Samson headbuts him & grabs ahold to his waist & tries to take him down, taking off like a bolt of lightening to leap over him like an olympic hurdler, begging him to play. They compete over who can get the closest to me, if one happens to move then the other will quickly take his spot. If Leo lays on me first, Sammy will paw him, literally lay on top of him to make a pyramid. I’ll get out the shower to find Leo chewing toilet paper & Sammy quietly and innocently looking up at me – knowing full well he is the one that pushed open the bathroom door. When Leo came down with allergies & bronchitis last week, his little kitty cat BFF was by his side just like he is when I don’t feel well. Samson is the brain & Leo is the brawn. Obviously they are quite comical to say the least.
Leo leaves us today to head to his new home in Hawaii with my sister, brother in law and to join the other fuzzies Izzy & Napolean. Samson seriously considered sending a ransom letter. I don’t know who is going to miss him most…
Aloha Leo!!!
Leo throws little temper tantrums when he doesn’t get his way. This is seriously what happened when I told him he was moving to Hawaii.
And this is what always happens when I’m scouring Pinterest. And no, you can’t hold him any other way because he thinks he’s a baby, which makes it difficult to type unless you prop his head up with your chin..
