I adore shooting details – even more so the bride-to-be’s rock! I am constantly practicing my technical skills that involve standing deadly still and holding my breath until I’m blue in the face. Hey, I do what I gotta do to get the shot. I like to scan the area for natural materials or items laying around for backgrounds/props to use so the ring pops out at you as the focus point. I keep a few easy tricks up my sleeve too for when there just isn’t anything that catches my eye. A background can be something as creative as a piece of fruit or as simple as a fabric or paper…as demonstrated in the following images. At the end of the post is a little rambling video about shooting rings, choosing lenses & reason 1001 why I am obsessed with scrapbook paper.
The first 4 images used 12×12 pieces of scrapbook paper as seen in the video (they cost about 59 cents each) The last 2 were on a scrap piece of fabric from one of my sewing adventures. It looks better as a ring shot background than the decorative pillow it was intended to be.
Oh, in the video I mispoke when explaining the macro dapter lens – what I meant to say was that the macro lens adapters are INEXPENSIVE, they come in at less than $20 for a set of 3-4 different magnifications. Really, they are absolutely incredible for the price (I found mine on Amazon).
